Crisis management at Saint Martin after hurricane Irma
Walhout Civil was urgently contracted for the aid organization and crisis management in Saint Martin, Saba and Saint Eustatius. The eye of Hurricane Irma caused a huge destruction on the Caribbean islands on September 6, 2017. It is known to be the first time a hurricane of category 5 that has been affected the Caribbean. Besides the suffering and the victims the infrastructure on the islands is extremely damaged. The first aid is focused on water, food and safety. For this reason, the reparation of the airport and the ports are crucial for humanitarian and military transportion operations. Work is being done on the salvage of many ships and wreck removals in the area. Walhout Civil has also been contracted for the design and implementation of recovery plans of the ports, berthing areas and coastal defence systems of the islands.
