Successful wreck removal of the MV SIRENA on Saint Eustatius

Salvage company KOOLE Mammoet Salvage has successfully removed the wreck of the MV Sirena. The ro-ro and container vessel wrecked on the rocks of Saint Eustatius in the Caribbean on 13 August, 2016. As a result of a unsuccessful refloat operations the ship was broken and sunk. Rijkswaterstaat PPO has commissioned in the name of the Government of the Netherlands to remove the wreck quickly, in order to protect the vulnerable coral reefs of the Statia National Marine Park.

Salvage consultant Korné Walhout of Walhout Civil BV was contracted for the wreck removal job in Statia. In his function as a representive of the government, he was involved in the daily supervision of the wreck, maritime operations and the work in the ports of Statia and Curaçao for months.
