Walhout Civil acquires engineering contract for breakwater and port terminal in Ghana

Thanks to this fantastic order we have again strengthen our position as distinguishing engineering firm
> Jan Walhout, managing partner
An oil company in Ghana awarded Walhout Civil a contract for the engineering of a breakwater construction with a port terminal, for the mooring of large oil tankers, in the Gulf of Guinea. The breakwater will be designed as a dam construction with a storm barrier, over a length of 1.5 km into the ocean. Ingenious solutions must be put in place to create save berthing and mooring locations for the oil tankers. All constructions must be grounded on granite rock bottom in areas with a strong sea currents and sedimentation processes, giving a lot of engineering challenges. Walhout Civil has started the site investigations and preliminary design in October 2016.
